FEATURED WEDDING 2019 | Kelly & Patrick: “Irish Spring Garden” in Dusty Blue Tones

Kelly and Paddy’s destination wedding is one for the books! Dreamy, ethereal shades of dusty blue, soft blush and peach tones, and silvery eucalyptus tone greenery perfectly accentuated their spring wedding at Mount Juliet Estate in Kilkenny.  We helped design and plan the day, focusing the details on our theme “romantic Irish spring” and creating a custom color palette that perfectly accentuated the Irish countryside and spring season. An incredible, impeccably shot gallery is courtesy of the incredibly talented Molly Carr Photography.

The Details

We began by designing a custom color palette. Kelly chose one of the “it” colors (and a personal favorite of mine) dusty blue as the main color. We played with different tones, creating a rich palette that went as dark as “storm grey” and through the grey and silvery tones of dusty blue. We used grey tones as neutrals, clean and crisp linen white, and soft gold and silver metallic to round out the main palette. Our supporting palette used a range of spring greenery, from rich emerald green tones to silvery eucalyptus to work in a bit of that Irish countryside and seasonal greenery.  To create the smallest of contrast to focus the eye and let the white stand out, we used the smallest touches of pale blush and pale peach. Together the color palette perfectly expressed the Irish spring garden vibe we were going for.

The tone overall took inspiration from the Georgian aesthetic at Mount Juliet.  Everything had a sense of refined elegance but Kelly and Paddy wanted to be careful that the day didn’t feel overly stuffy or too formal. We struck the right balance between stunning venue and setting and sprinkling in more casual elements like the polaroid station.

We added pops of personalization throughout the day. One unique feature included a tug boat sketch — a traditional among their friends when they get married, a tug boat features in some way or element at the wedding. For Kelly and Paddy it came in the form of French macaroons! The ceremony incorporated the handfasting tradition and included a custom ribbon that was embossed with a Gaelic saying.

Paper played a huge part in the day.  It was an important element for Kelly and she wanted this element to be perfect and really express the day’s color and theme.  A to die for custom suite was created by Shasta Bell Calligraphy and as you can clearly see, added the perfect elegant decorative touch to the overall decor and details.

The flowers stole the show and nailed our garden theme. Bella Botanica once again worked their magic, creating a gorgeous focal point floral arch for the ceremony, compote arrangements for the reception, and some spectacular bouquets in our color palette and theme. Gorgeous white garden roses and emerald greenery brought the room alive and played perfectly against the dusty blue tones in the linens and accented stationary, the blush tones and grey coming in from the dining room on their own.

Kelly and Paddy — it was a pleasure working with you! Your design style and attention to detail was a delight to work with.  We wish you both a life full of happiness and more gorgeous memories!
