Happy Valentine’s Day! As love is in the air, we thought we’d take this chance to look back at some of the most incredibly romantic moments and details we’ve had the honor of helping with over the years. We’re talking about romantic venues, backdrops, flowers, first looks, thoughtful details and more. We hope you’ll enjoy this trip down memory lane with us.
A Perfectly Romantic Color Palette
In honor of Valentine’s Day, we are instantly reminded of Brittany and Nick’s gorgeous wedding. Rich ruby and garnet tones played with pops of magenta pink and soft blush perfectly against the strong stone and picturesque grounds of their Adare Manor castle wedding. Every detail from the flowers to ceremony backdrop, decor to dress were on point. Make sure to check out more gorgeous photos by Aspect Photography and details on the full BLOG POST here!
Most Romantic First Look
When thinking back on some of our most romantic moments, a first look always comes to mind and one for the books comes from Tara & Jimmy’s wedding at Kilruddery House & Gardens. Every second of this special moment was expertly captured by the insanely talented Shane O’Neill of Aspect Photography in one of the most heart-warming, honest, tear-jerking sequences we’ve ever seen. The entire day is a testament of two people, insanely in love, so in the moment and enjoying every second of their destination wedding and it’s truly a master class in what’s important for your day. Incredibly, this gorgeous gallery is entirely in black and white and absolutely 100% a must see. See the whole thing in the BLOG POST here!
Breathtaking Bridal Portrait
We’re always giddy when a gallery comes in from Paula O’Hara Photography, but when Jordan’s gallery came in we were completely stunned. Northern Ireland takes center stage and breathtaking backdrop to Jordan’s bridal portrait session. With sun setting and model good looks, you can see Jordan is enjoying ever bit of her moment. Bonus: some insanely gorgeous scenery shots featuring the unique Irish landscape including castle ruins, Giants Causeway, and The Hedges. Please check the BLOG POST here for the full scoop.
A Romantic Cliffs Elopement
Part of the draw coming to Ireland is the incredible natural scenery, and of course the Cliffs of Moher never disappoints. The setting for many of our intimate weddings and elopements, it’s truly the apex when you think of epic wedding scene. It was hard to pick a favorite here, as we’ve has so many incredibly gorgeous photos and galleries, but Candace & Jonathan’s elopement quickly comes to mind as a top favorite. Part of it is a good looking couple with fabulous vintage style, and part of it was a spectacular sunny day with a gorgeous warm setting sun that made for a record-setting gallery expertly captured by Awake and Dreaming Photography. But when putting this post together, what edged it out was the sentiment behind it: deathly afraid of heights, they conquered their fear together during this portrait session. What a romantic way to start your life together! Definitely check out the full details here on the BLOG POST.
An Authentic Celtic Celebration
Again, one of the greatest parts of getting married in Ireland is really taking inspiration from the landscape, culture and rich history of the land. Toni and Chris did just that, planning their incredible authentically Irish intimate wedding featuring Irish ruins, ancient Celtic religious sites, Irish traditions, and a true love for one another. No wonder this fabulous wedding was featured on Martha Stewart Weddings. Please take a look here on the BLOG POST for more incredible details and photos by D’arcy Benicosa.
Romantic Rain
Ok — part of getting married in Ireland is you need to consider it may rain. We’ve had many couples embrace the elements and actually turn it into an advantage for some amazing photos. One such was Meaghan & Yates. Their intimate wedding was full of gorgeous shots by the amazing duo Sean and Kate, as they explore the western Ireland landscape and own every rainy moment together having so much fun. Bonus: their romantic red and white color palette will surely get you in the Valentine’s Day mood too and for sure it’s worth a trip over to the BLOG POST for more! Another wedding that instantly came to mind was Brittany & Ryan’s Game of Thrones inspired wedding. They braved the elements to get some amazing shots outdoors and there’s something about the rain and mist that made it even more romantic. Definitely pop over to their story on the BLOG here to see more photos Navy Blur took of their day!
The Perfect Day
Sam and Bengi’s wedding day was full of everything you could ever ask for in a perfect wedding day: glorious sunshine, incredible romantic ruins as backdrop to your ceremony, exploring the Irish countryside together for amazing photos, a portrait session at the Cliffs of Moher with crystalline Atlantic Ocean behind you, and gorgeous details. Romantic Details
Having the perfect combination of details can really enhance the day and amplify the romance for your wedding day. Sarah and Alex’s day was one that quickly comes to mind. Flowers were some of the most romantic and gorgeous we’ve ever seen, signage and details perfectly accented the day but the star was a pop of vintage china for the table setting. Gorgeous green, teal, and white hues took center stage here. Check out more here on the POST.
Breathtaking Garden and Details
Still so in love with Laney and David’s wedding. Their ceremony at Bantry House was one for the books, including a bespoke ceremony in the heart of the gorgeous botanical garden. We carried the botanical theme throughout the day, and you’ll surely fall in love with the rich textures and colors. We love how they personalized their day, including custom watercolor table stationary featuring their beloved pets! Lots of great stuff here to get you thinking and excited about your wedding! Romantic Coast Elopement
We’ve had so many romantic and beautiful elopements we’ve had the honor of planning, and one in particular always stands out for us. Danielle and Ace’s elopement to Howth Head is one of our favorite galleries. The gorgeous Irish coastline serves as backdrop, and during the ceremony right on cue it began to rain. Out pops a bright red umbrella which frankly just seems to add to the whole thing so beautifully. Their story is wonderful and we love how their attitude was so focused on the right things. For example, Danielle ordered her dress and tried it on for the first time in Ireland the morning of her wedding! It’s that level of trust in what they’re doing and conviction that it’s the right thing that really pulls our heart on this one. Beautifully captured by Kelly McAllister. See more here on the BLOG POST.
Romantic Surprise Ceremony Element!
We love when couples really embrace the ceremony and make it completely their own. Shelby and Brandt’s elopement to Waterford Castle was full of really cool details that were uniquely them. Metallica lyrics served as part of the ceremony, a gorgeous all lily-of-the-valley bouquet, some serious vintage style for this gorgeous couple added to the uniqueness of the gallery. But one detail stands out above the rest: they got matching tattoos as part of their ceremony! Bonus: check out our original Waterlily Weddings logo! A Romantic Valentine’s Colors Style Shoot
Finally, we leave you with some Valentine’s Day inspiration from our style shoot BLOG POST at Mount Juliet. Our color palette naturally leans into classic romantic Valentine’s Day reds and pinks, but added sophisticated peach tones, blush, and dreamy emerald with pops of unexpected black really drives this slam dunk color palette home. Lots of romantic inspiration here! Photos by Shane O’Neil of Aspect Photography.
Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
