We are so excited to share with you today ahead of St. Patrick’s Day one of our all time favorite weddings! Kacey and Jacob rescheduled their wedding (like many) a few times before finally being able to move forward in a post-covid world this past fall. We had the absolute pleasure to help design and style the day along with planning lots of amazing details to produce a truly unique, modern Irish wedding that’s just perfect in every way.
The vibe was relaxed with a huge focus on having fun (finally!). The style was modern traditional with a botanical twist, “elegant rustic” as we merged elevated design elements into the rustic space of Kilruddery House & Gardens’ grain store. We created a custom color palette featuring classic and traditional white, green tones, and gold, but modernized it with chic black accents. Make sure to read on for all of the great details!
The Details
Kacey and Jacob wanted a venue that would have “wow factor” but also feel very comfortable and relaxed for their guests. Kilruddery House was a perfect choice for them: while details like the orangerie, period antiques, and grand estate and grounds provided the elegant wow factor, the rustic style grain store enabled us to create a relaxed reception space where the emphasis was on great food, music, and of course — lots of dancing!
We approached the color palette thoughtfully but careful to give it just a hint of contemporary update. Whereas white, green, and gold are classic wedding colors that work in any space any time of year, adding the smallest pops of black gave us a modern and sophisticated undertone to the overall look. We worked in black iron candle sticks to hit that rustic but elegant California wine country vibe, accents of black ribbon, and smartly working in pops of black with the flowers here/there (just a hint!). Gold helped to elevate the look to be elegant and romantic, while all of the bright green tones really warmed and enlivened the spaces. We worked through the spectrum of green, the bridal party wearing from emerald and true green to silvery sage tones.
For a pop of color and rustic decor, we added antique brass gold wedding bells with velvet black ribbon and a note at each table setting for the guests to ring as Kacey and Jacob made their grand entrance. Kacey — ever the thoughtful bride — hand-wrote thank you notes to each of her guests — we placed these at each table setting.
To personize the day, we displayed family wedding photos — a wonderful surprise and sentiment for the family and guests. As they left, guests were invited to help themselves to customized luggage tags as a parting gift.
The evening was a fun one, full of Irish drummers, dancers, lots of music and revelry. A casual party Irish style indeed to celebrate the start of a beautiful life together for Kacey and Jacob!
