As we approach late summer, we look back at one of our all-time favorite weddings we’ve had the pleasure to help plan and produce: Aissa & Kevin’s heart stopping, gorgeous 2018 summer wedding at Luttrellstown Castle. Set against the picturesque Irish countryside, the day featured modern accents with a refreshed traditional color palette: soft rose quartz, white, and soft grey tones were accented with trendy rose gold accents expertly executed by Frog Prince. With model-good looks, lots of fabulous details, and personalization on the day, this is one wedding that continues to inspire year after year. The day was beautifully captured by Siobhan Byrne Photography and Sydney Bliss Photography Please enjoy some of the highlights from this gorgeous day.
The ceremony took place outdoors with the castle serving as natural backdrop. The focal point accent was a collection of mixed-height pedestal arrangements that created the effect of an arch. This is a great way to work in that style but not be obtrusive when you have such an ornate backdrop with the castle behind you. Pops of geometric accents added a modern touch, while the white/green/soft pink palette hit a traditional note.
The reception took place in the castle’s opulent dining room. The color theme carried inside where gold and rose gold took center stage on the tables. A mix of designs from candelabras, low flower arrangements, taller greenery-based arrangements and a variety of candles added plenty of dimension in the space so everywhere you turned it was something new and intriguing to look at. Modern, clean grey table cloths were the perfect base to bounce the rose gold accents off of. A mix of traditional glassware and modern candle accents struck the balance of “modern-traditional vibe” just perfectly for the day. Marble was a popular trend in 2018 and one I hope actually stays as a classic. We saw that expressed in the menu design and the gorgeous cake by Cupcakes & Counting. Aissa was a very creative bride — bringing in lots of wonderful personalized details. One of our all-time favorite decor accents has to be the custom “Lovey Duffy” neon sign for their photo op station!
A Modern Twist On Traditional
Aissa and Kevin’s day is a perfect example of a modern-traditional wedding concept. It’s taking traditional elements of a wedding day (location, color palette, overall structure) and adding modern twists and accents to give it a fresh new take. The white, soft pink and green color palette is quite traditional, but adding in grey tones and rose gold accents instantly modernized the color palette. We love the mix of traditional glassware to hit the castle vibe, but mixing them with a more modern charger plate style and modern gold cutlery style. Accenting with a trend is great — this one used two, marble and geometric — with pops here/there… not to much, not overloaded. Just pops here and there to catch the eye and make the statement is the way to go. Had everything been geometric pattern for example, that would have felt a bit odd in such a traditional castle setting. And adding in pops of personalization was wonderful — this wedding was uniquely them, clearly communicated their personal style and vibe, and obviously photographed beautifully and effortlessly!
Congratulations again Aissa and Kevin!
