We’re thrilled to share with you a stunning wedding featuring one of our favorite venues – Ballyfin – and one incredibly stylish couple that’s sure to inspire you! Kate and Travis tied the knot in a stunning modern-meets-vintage wedding in the Irish countryside that was fully of fun, incredible activites and details. Their late autumn wedding is a wonderful example of how you can embrace the season for inspiration and make use of the many incredible venues Ireland has to offer throughout the year! The ceremony took place on the grounds, highlighting the white/green/black color palette. A focal point arch took center stage while tasteful arrangements and candles elegantly lined the aisle — a modern-traditional feel that helped Kate take centerstage with her breathtaking dress and look! The traditional Irish ceremony included Celtic elements like blessing of the rings and handfasting.
The cocktail hour allowed everyone to relax before entering the dining room for dinner. The centerpieces were a stunning modern design of perfect, simple white roses each in its own individual vase. The minimalist style contrasted intriguingly with the period vintage style of the venue. Custome menus with black accent was the perfect touch. After dinner, the guests were invited to dance where an Elvis impersonator surprised everyone for the couple’s first dance! The festivities continued into the next day with an Irish-American style BBQ featuring an Irish band, a bloody mary bar, and Irish coffees.
The Story
Kate and Travis met through their mutual friend, Michael, in high school. It would take a little time before they started dating, but it was love at first sight. After an intimate proposal in their 125 year old heritage home (incidentally, that is registered as a national historic preservation home!) in upstate New York, they began planning their dream wedding day! Ballyfin Demense in the heart of Ireland’s stunning countryside was their first choice off the bat, but sadly a date wasn’t available until 2025! They searched for another venue but none spoke to them quite the way Ballyfin had. It was important for them to get married that year, so they started planning a Vegas wedding instead when Ballyfin called and said they had a cancelation for November! Kate and Travis jumped on the chance, thinking it a “God wink” and got straight to planning. They contacted us at Waterlily Weddings to get the details going!
The Details
The theme for the day was “quiet luxury.” It was important for Kate to have the day’s details not compete with Ballyfin’s overall style; they wanted Ballyfin to impress upon their guests as it did for them. Merging a modern style with vintage notes, the day was full of great details like lavish florals for the ceremony, a modern and sleek design concept for the tables, punctuated with traditional accents like wax seals and custom traditional-style stationary throughout the day. The floral concepts and decor hire were provided by Frog Prince. The white/green/black color palette was perfect for the season and allowed a lot of Ballyfin’s natural beauty to take center stage effortlessly.
Kate and Travis wanted their guests to experience Ireland on a total level, so the festivities began with a welcome celebration in Dublin ahead of the wedding. As everyone made their way to Ballyfin, they were encouraged to take part in traditional Irish countryside activities like horse riding, skeet shooting, and horse carriage rides. After enjoying themselves on the wedding day, the festivities continued with a BBQ the next day before Kate and Travis took their honeymoon in Paris — a beloved destination for them both and the perfect way to end an epic wedding celebration!
